I've never been able to get a hoopoe, as they fly away so quickly. Your photo of one is smashing! I am not a birder, but enchanted by the ones I've seen (and heard) in Egypt. So nice to get the names of some I've heard. Thank you.Pamelahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00851820551399411904noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1297746945549242887.post-21519111528042548992010-02-19T15:23:50.712+00:002010-02-19T15:23:50.712+00:00Crocodile Island! Have to say I thought Aswan by far the nicest place in Egypt.

The bird life is fab as you sail down or up the Nile! I was surprised that you didn't see more Hoopoes they seemed everywhere when I went -altho that was in August (far too hot - would recommend that time of year to anyone- much better in Feb!)

Looking forward to you tales of birding trip with a local guide!Eagleseagleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17516605991636426040noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1297746945549242887.post-79649180081423066202010-02-17T20:16:48.940+00:002010-02-17T20:16:48.940+00:00Brilliant post with brilliant photos, Phil.
